Dr. Michael Muniz

Dr. Michael Muñiz is President of the Texas Pharmacy Association.

He earned his associates of applied science in surgical technology from Texas State Technical College and his bachelor of science from the University of Texas at Brownsville.

He became “Doctor” Muñiz when he earned his doctorate of pharmacy from the Texas A&M University Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy in 2012.

Prior to his term as President of the Texas Pharmacy Association, Dr. Muñiz served as Vice President from 2018 to 2020 and as Director from 2016 to 2017.

Now a compounding pharmacist with (New R.X.) Nu RX Pharmacy in Harlingen, Texas, Dr. Muñiz worked as a pharmacist at Muniz Rio Grande Pharmacy – he has a passion for serving the South Texas Region as evidenced by his commitment to the Rio Grande Valley.

Dr. Muñiz has been named Readers’ Choice Pharmacist of the Year by the Valley Morning Star for several years. He believes pharmacists are not simply dispensers, but are “care collaborators.” He strives to improve advocacy for the pharmacy profession and strengthen the relationship between pharmacists and the patients they serve.
